WELCOME!
Hello and welcome to a brand new(almost) disk magazine coded by
Runrig. This is a magazine aimed at the user who wants to get most
from his machine, for both the programmer just learning his trade
or the more experience coder wanting to pick up some handy and
time consuming tips.
On this disk there is mainly STOS source-code supplied to me by
Eddie of The Happening Boiz, Whee the fibble and Colin A. Watt/MSi
Music by Mad Max. This magazine features the first 'Mystical Mad
Max Music Selector'. You never know which Mad Max tune you'll get
on load up making it fun everytime you boot up HP Source. If you
don't like it, then you can turn it off.
Font on the intro screen supplied by Colin A. Watt. Menu code by
Runrig. Text displayer by Runrig with optimized by Mungo.
Articles on this disk by Wheee the fibble, Eddie Bryan, William
Bryan, Adam Medley, Philip Rankin & Paul Mison.
As well as hundreds of pieces of interesting sourcecode on the
disk, we all have the RUNRIG RIPPER, a picture ripper that will
rip pictures from any depacked file. Please note - you need GFA v2
to run this (very poor) program. It was originally coded only for
my personal use and I've filled a couple of disks with ripped pics,
but I thought I'd punish the general public by inflicting thisa
dire piece of code on their STs!
The question on everyone's lips, what does HP stand for?
That's up to you; it could be Hardened Programmers, Hi-Powered or
even Hopelessly Poor (but I hope not), but to me it means Help
Please: I need your help. Please send in articles and/or any
useful bits of source in any language especially GFA/68000 as we
seem to have a deficit of this.
Well, good luck and enjoy your HP Source.
>RUNRIG<
completed at the Dentrassi coding convention, Jan 1992
Here comes the disk filler type extra paragraph or two. Thanks to
Colin for a couple of last minute bits of source code, they
haven't got a seperate ASCII documentation file, but you should
find that they are well documented.
I won't stoop as low as Sammy Joe of Disk Maggie by filling up the
remaining bytes on this disk with meaningless asterixes like this:
** * * *** ** * ****
* * * * * * * * * *
** * * * * ** * * **
* * *** * * * * * ****
As that is abviously nothing more than a complete and utter waste
of time. Neither will I patronise our dear, precious readers whome
we admire so much, or will I talk irrelevant bollocks for the rest
of this file.
HP Source just gives you the best.
Pass the turnips.

Due to a faulty track/computer breakdown/Scottish slowness/Irish
laziness/ this disk-mag's release has been delayed by four months!
Some people may have got a preview copy without my 'stunnning'
intro and Eddie's barrel scroll intro. This is a dud version - burn it
and spread this version like butter on a hot crumpet!
Thanks to all involved of the creation of this disk-mag and extra
special thanks to Nigel at COMTECH for mending my 'rust bucket'
ST. What a great company they are! (What a great piece of subliminal
advertising that was!)
Congratulations to Sheffield Wednesday who have finished third in
the league and have qualified for Europe. I was suicidal when they went
down two seasons back, but now they are showing their true worth under
'Tricky Trev' ("What a great handel that is, eh readers?" he says in a
patronising tone). In John Sheridan, David Hirst and Carlton Palmer they
have three of the best players in the country. Chris Woods is pretty
good, he has two types of games:
1 - outstanding where he saves penalties, makes amazing reaction saves
2 - abysmal where he lets in six or seven goals and drops every cross!
Good luck in the UEFA cup guys (I know the whole team reads this! Honest!)
As all Taureans my birthday is looming up over the next couple
of weeks. Infact, it is on May 10th (make a note! Then write down my
birthday!). I promise to greet all people who send me birthday cards
(I don't mind if they are belated!) as it is such as special birthday.
Yep, you guessed it, its my 18th birthday (I do go on don't I?) so
get those cards in the post. You're just too good to me!
Special message to THE UNTOUCHABLES (yes you!!) - could you please
get in touch with me! I haven't got any issues of Ledgers, and I've
heard so much about it!
Oh well, time for the snappy punchline which will ensure the name of
this disk-mag lives on in your memory for eternity (or something!):
"HP SOURCE - FRANK BRUNO WOULDN'T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT!"
....And with those immortal words he disappeared into the hills of
Mid-Wales never to be seen again.......until issue two, that is!
RUNRIG (v. late April '92!)
